Jesus prayed for future believers. That includes people who would one day disagree over the church thermostat.
In John 17:20–23, He prays for those who will believe through His disciples’ message to be united in the Father and Son.
That unity bears witness to who sent Him.
It calls for more than being pleasant when we agree. It takes humility, truthful conversations, forgiveness, and a shared commitment to Christ.
We cannot control everyone’s response. We can examine our own hearts and take faithful steps toward reconciliation.
